Draft outline details
Step by step
- Prepare a five-minute brief: what happened, customer and revenue impact, current state, cause so far, what we do next.
- State what is known and what is not, and when the next update will arrive.
- Offer two or three actions with cost and effect, and the one you recommend.
- Planned mistake: defend the team or explain the root cause in technical detail. Fix: lead with impact and recovery, acknowledge the failure plainly, and keep cause at one sentence.
- Close with the decision needed (for example, a resilience investment) and follow up in writing within a day.
Demonstration
brief outline: impact, status, cause so far, actions, ask, next update time.
