Writing a vision people can use
On This Lesson 4 topics
This lesson is planned. The outline below lists the topics it will cover. The full lesson has not been published yet.
In this lesson
write a vision concrete enough to decide with.
Planned topics
- Describe the future in observable terms: what an engineer, a seller, an on-call person experiences in 2030.
- Include a decision test: "if we are choosing between A and B, the vision says..."
- Name what you are giving up; a vision that costs nothing guides nothing.
- Keep it short: a page or two, in everyday words.

Demonstration
outline: context, destination in five concrete statements, principles for hard trade-offs, what we will not do, how we will know we are arriving.
Check your understanding
How can you test that a vision is not too abstract?
Show answer
Try to decide a real, current choice with it; if it cannot, it is too vague.
