- A mentor gives advice and feedback; a sponsor uses their reputation to open opportunities.
- Sponsorship means naming the person in rooms they are not in and putting their name on visible work.
- It carries risk for the sponsor; sponsor only people whose work you can vouch for.
- Be explicit with the person about what you are doing.
