Regional and provider failure
On This Lesson 4 topics
This lesson is planned. The outline below lists the topics it will cover. The full lesson has not been published yet.
In this lesson
plan for the loss of a region or of a whole provider and decide what must survive.
Planned topics
- Region failures are rare but real; provider-level events include account suspension or control-plane outages.
- Options: multi-region active-passive, active-active, or accept downtime with a tested restore.
- Cost rises quickly; protect only the capabilities whose outage cost justifies it.
- Test the failover; an untested plan is a hope. Include dependencies such as DNS, identity, and CI.

Demonstration
a table: scenario (region loss, provider control-plane outage, account lock), affected capabilities, survival design, recovery target, last test date.
Check your understanding
Why include identity and deployment tooling in a regional failure plan?
Show answer
If they fail, you cannot recover or operate the surviving parts.
