VPC/VNet layout and subnets
On This Lesson 4 topics
This lesson is planned. The outline below lists the topics it will cover. The full lesson has not been published yet.
In this lesson
lay out a virtual network with public and private subnets across zones.
Planned topics
- A VPC/VNet is your private network in the cloud; subnets divide it, each living in one zone.
- Public subnets host only what must face the internet (load balancers, NAT); everything else sits in private subnets.
- Use at least two or three zones, with a subnet per tier per zone.
- Separate tiers: web, application, data; data subnets have no internet route.
- Size subnets for growth, especially if containers use many addresses.
