Why NoSQL exists
On This Lesson 4 topics
This lesson is planned. The outline below lists the topics it will cover. The full lesson has not been published yet.
In this lesson
know what problems NoSQL stores were built for, and what they give up.
Planned topics
- "NoSQL" means "not only relational": stores built for a specific access pattern, scale, or data shape.
- Drivers: horizontal scale, huge write rates, flexible shape, very low latency, relationship-heavy data.
- Typical cost: weaker joins, fewer or no multi-row transactions, you design data around queries.
- Relational databases scale a long way; NoSQL is a choice made from evidence (MID-044), not default.
