Kafka as a distributed log
On This Lesson 4 topics
This lesson is planned. The outline below lists the topics it will cover. The full lesson has not been published yet.
In this lesson
explain Kafka's model.
Planned topics
- Kafka stores records in an append-only, ordered log; consumers read by position and do not delete records.
- Records stay for a retention period (time or size), so many consumers can read and replay.
- A cluster has brokers; producers write, consumers read.
- Modern Kafka runs without ZooKeeper (KRaft mode); verify version before recording.
- Log reads are sequential, which is why throughput is high.
