Zero trust and defense in depth
On This Lesson 4 topics
This lesson is planned. The outline below lists the topics it will cover. The full lesson has not been published yet.
In this lesson
apply zero trust and layered defense across application, data, network, and identity.
Planned topics
- Zero trust: never trust a request because of where it comes from; verify identity, device, and context every time, and grant least privilege.
- Defense in depth: several independent layers so one failure does not mean a breach.
- Layers: identity (strong authentication, short-lived tokens), application (input validation, authorization), data (encryption, tokenization), network (segmentation, private endpoints).
- Assume breach: limit the blast radius and detect movement.
Draft outline details
Demonstration
a table with the four layers as rows and columns "control", "what it stops", "what happens if it fails". Fill it for the store-to-platform path.
Check your understanding
A store till is on the corporate network. Under zero trust, does that alone allow it to call the ERP API?
Show answer
No. It must authenticate and be authorized for that specific call.
Practice
Apply this lesson with the module's lab, exercises and quiz.
